New Commander Catch-Up Boost

Learn when the temporary catch-up boost applies, which actions it accelerates, and when it ends.

Topics covered: New Commander Catch-Up Boost Eligibility and Effects

New and returning commanders behind the world's established progression can receive a catch-up boost.

Eligibility depends on your Command Center level, regardless of when you joined or how long you have been away. Your target is the rounded median completed Command Center level of the 40 most advanced other human players in your world, regardless of activity. NPCs, bots, and your own profile are excluded. If fewer than 40 eligible players exist, all available players are used. The target has a minimum of 4 and maximum of 30; with no eligible players, it is 4.

The multiplier scales with your gap to that target: 1 + 4 × (target level − your level) / target level, rounded up to a whole number and capped at 5×. With a target of 18, level 3 receives 5×, level 9 receives 3×, and level 17 receives 2×. The multiplier drops in whole-number steps as your Command Center progresses and remains at least 2× until you reach the target.

While active, the boost multiplies Food, Steel, and Energy production and the speed of construction, research, and unit training. Costs, combat, gathering, healing, travel, rewards, queues, and Credits are unchanged.

There is no time limit. Your target stays fixed while the boost is active, and the boost ends when you reach it. If you later fall behind the top-40 catch-up target, loading your world profile can grant another catch-up boost. Changes apply from that point onward; offline production retains the rates that applied when it was earned.
