Fragments, Encrypted Caches & Anomalies
Learn how Unknown Fragments become Symbol Fragments, unlock personal Encrypted Cache addresses, and differ from Secret Bases and Subspace Anomalies.
Topics covered: Fragment Decryption, Encrypted Cache Portal Addresses & Anomalies
Fragments are encrypted data shards. Combining a matching set reveals the address of a personal Encrypted Cache in the Portal Network.
Fragment Types
- Unknown Fragments: Encrypted data blocks found in missions, events, and NPC drops. These must be converted into Symbols in the Portal view.
- Fragment Symbols: Decrypted pieces of a personal Encrypted Cache address. You need 6 matching symbols to form a complete address.
Encrypted Caches
When you combine 6 matching Fragment Symbols, you unlock a personal Encrypted Cache address.
- Personal Target: Encrypted Caches can only be attacked by their owner and cannot be used for Portal Rallies. Dial the address in the Portal.
- Rewards: Breach the cache to claim its stored resources and items.
- Secret Bases: These are separate targets. Their addresses are broadcast in global chat, not created with fragments.
Subspace Anomalies
Mysterious spatial distortions that occasionally appear in the Portal Network.
- 6-Symbol Address: Anomalies use a 6-symbol portal address.
- Rally Only: By design, these targets require a massive coordinated force. They cannot be attacked by a single player and must be engaged using an Alliance Portal Rally.
