What Scouting Reveals

Successful unit reports show the defender's troops, reinforcements, and combined totals for each unit type. New reports also identify each reinforcing commander and show their combined troop composition. These details reflect the moment scouting finishes. Older reports retain their recorded totals, but cannot identify reinforcers whose identities were not saved.

• Resources: Current Food, Steel, Energy, Astromite, and Quantarite held.
• Units: Exact counts of stationed and reinforcing units.
• Symbols: Reveals the target's Portal Address (required for Portal Attacks).
• Scout notifications: An arriving Galaxy scout creates a "You are being scouted" report. A separate "You have been scouted" report confirms a successful investigation after it finishes.
• Occupied objectives: The current occupation leader receives a report when a scout arrives at a Trading Station or Galactic Nexus and when its investigation finishes. Scouting the objective does not reveal the leader's home resources.
• Map intelligence: Personal observations require the same target and coordinates and last up to seven days on the map. Relocated or replacement targets do not inherit them. Historical reports remain readable and shareable under normal report retention; older reports without a reliable target identity appear only in Reports.
• Temporary targets: When a temporary map target disappears, its non-favorited scout reports and custom saved map addresses are removed. Favorited scout reports remain available.

Scouting speed is improved by upgrading the Galactic Observatory and related research.
